CF PULIDO SAN MATEO 4 LANZAROTE 5

CF PULIDO SAN MATEO   4   LANZAROTE   5,   1st November 2017,

Nine goals, three red cards, a hat trick and heart warnings for the two managers because of their leaky defences and all on the day following Halloween.

The Rojillos couldn’t have started better. After just three minutes Borja released Alex Cruz with a great pass and the Lanzarote striker slid the ball wide of the keeper to give his side a 0-1 advantage.

The Gran Canarian side only took six minutes to get themselves back on level terms. From a corner kick striker Braulio guided the ball home to make it 1-1.

The game was flowing at a fast pace despite the intense heat and in the 17th minute Alex Cruz was brought down in the box and the referee had no other choice but to award a spot kick. Borja drove home the penalty to restore Lanzarote´s lead at 1-2.

On the stroke of half time the Gran Canarian side were once again back level as striker Moisés beat keeper Sasha to send his side into the interval with the score 2-2.

The second half began with a déjà vu feel to it. After just three minutes Borja released Alex Cruz who just like the beginning of the first half beat the keeper to give Lanzarote the lead at 2-3.

The Rojillos then took a grip of the game with Borja scoring in the 61st minute and then San Mateo’s goalkeeper was sent off for handling outside the area before Borja completed his hat trick in the 77th minute, in doing so the midfielder became the first Rojillos player to score a hat trick this season and won a new iphone 8 donated by club sponsors Lanzarote Informatica.

Hat trick, two assists and an iphone 8 for man of the match Borja

At 2-5 up and with the home side down to ten players this game looked dead and buried however less than two minutes after Borjas goal the hosts pulled a goal back through sub Felipe to make it 3-5.

A minute later and the home side seemed to have eased Lanzarote´s concerns when they were reduced to nine men in the 80th minute when midfielder Bryan saw red for a dangerous tackle.

A nervous defence allowed striker Braulio to score his second of the game and give his side a chance of a remarkable comeback with the score now 4-5.

Lanzarote defender Krispy was given a harsh red card in the 90th minute which led to a difficult finale for the Rojillos as the Gran Canarian side did create opportunities. Fortunately the Rojillos held on to move up to 5th spot.

Heart stopping moments for Lanzarote manager Maxi Barrera in the final few minutes.

During the second half Rojillos goalkeeper who was a substitute was also sent off therefore this Sunday 18 year old Sasha will be in goal and on the bench will more than likely be 16 year old Junior Cristian.

This Sunday 5th November at 12 noon Lanzarote will host CF Haría. This local derby match is the first ever between these two clubs in the Tercera Division.

Ex Lanzarote player Oscar Vladimir (Vladi) returned to his local club of Haría two seasons ago and is a huge reason why this small club in the hills is making their debut season in the Spanish fourth tier.

Vladi, one of Lanzarote´s finest ever players now with home club CF Haría

Vladi is one of the best players Lanzarote have ever produced and will always be remembered for scoring the goal in the Copa Del Rey against the mighty Real Madrid to take Lanzarote into the break against these giants 1-1. Figo and Zidane were introduced in the second half and Los Galacticos ran out 1-3 winners.
