8th September 2013

Lanzarote end their winning run through a solitary goal three minutes into the second half against our Tenerife bogey side.

On paper this should have looked like points for Rojillos managaer Adolfo Pérez. Lanzarote with their two wins on the bounce and San Isidro sitting bottom of the table without a point. The Rojillos have now just picked up two points in their last five matches away to San Isidro and on all of those occasions have failed to find the net. If you pick an away game to watch Lanzarote avoid this fixture.

The Rojillos, full of confidence began the game well dominating possession and winger Toñito creating problems for the Tenerife defence. As the game continued and with Lanzarote unable to get reward for their creativity the home side evened up the balance of play.

The best chance of the first half was for San Isidro when defender Ayoze forced the Lanzarote keeper into making a fine save from a goal bound effort.

Both sides had opportunities to open the scoring with an attack for one team then seconds later an attack for the other side but both failed to score before the break.

Only three minutes had lapsed in the second period when the home side went 1-0 up. Strike duo Gaizka and Juanito combined with the latter beating the Lanzarote keeper to send the home side in front.

On the hour Lanzarote thought they were level when a pile driver from striker Rosmen looked destined for the back of the net only for the Tenerife keeper, Juan José to pull off an astonishing save and protect his sides lead.

The Rojillos dominated play but were met with stubborn resistance from a tough defence. In stoppage time the home side were reduced to ten men but Lanzarote did not have the time to take advantage of the numerical difference.

The Rojillos drop to 7th spot in the league table but are only a point away from league leaders and one of the favourites for promotion CD Marino.

Next up is a home match (In Tias) on Saturday the 14th September at 1pm versus La Palma side SD Tenisca. This game has been brought forward one day as the island celebrates its biggest Fiesta of the year “Los Dolores”.
