C.D BUZANADA 3 – 0 U.D LANZAROTE

CD BUZANADA   3   LANZAROTE   0,     5th February 2017,

An awful away day for Lanzarote conceding three second half goals to the newly promoted side who were the team that destroyed Lanzarote’s 43 game unbeaten home record 1-5 earlier in the season.

The Rojillos (The Reds) dominated the early play and had two great chances to take the lead both falling to defender Fran Gil. On the half hour a corner was flicked on by Rosmen then five minutes later a throw was also flicked on by the Lanzarote captain but unfortunately the Rojillos centre back put both chances wide.

As the half drew to a close the Tenerife side created chances themselves but the score remained goalless at the break.

The deadlock was broken nine minutes in to the second half. The player who almost single handily tore Lanzarote apart earlier in the season with his four goals got on the end of a good move and placed the ball wide of keeper Agoney to give his side a 1-0 lead.

This first goal spurred on the home side but had the completely opposite effect for Lanzarote.

Gerardo playing behind the front two orchestrated his side into playing some lovely flowing one touch football and Lanzarote in the mid 20´s heat were just chasing shadows.

Just six minutes later and their dominance was rewarded with another goal when midfielder Borjita struck low from the edge of the area to make it 2-0.

Rojillos striker Natanael had a great chance to reduce the deficit when he was one on one with the keeper but unfortunately his effort cleared the bar and the home side breathed a sigh of relief then continued with their excellent play.

Manager Adolfo Pérez made three substitutions but this had little effect to the outcome of this game. Lanzarote had their chances in this match and certainly did not play bad but Buzanada proved they were the best team on the day when they completed the scoring in 82nd minute when sub Nami finished from close range following another good team move.

The results from fellow playoff contenders could not have been much worse with all teams winning except for sixth placed CD Marino who lost at home to runaway league leaders Las Palmas B.

Lanzarote have slipped down to eighth spot and after clawing back points to narrow the gap to the playoffs in recent weeks. This good work has all been blown apart as they now trail a playoff spot by eight points with 42 points still to play for.

This Sunday at 12 noon Lanzarote will have a fantastic opportunity to take maximum points when they face 16th placed side CD Vera. The Tenerife side are in poor form just picking up two points in their last four outings with three of those games been played at home.

However the visitors will be desperate to get something from the game as they are sitting just two points clear of the relegation places.
