UD LANZAROTE   V   UD LAS PALMAS (Saturday August 10th at 7pm in Arrecife, Free Entrance)

The 51st San Ginés tournament this year has brought to us Segunda A (Championship) side UD Las Palmas.

Only two seasons ago Las Palmas graced the Primera Liga and in football terms this match is David and Goliath.

Las Palmas began their pre season a little over one month ago and played Primera Liga side Real Betis last night, meanwhile  Lanzarote have just completed their second week and were training on the beach yesterday evening.

Last night training on Puerto Del Carmen beach.

The Segunda A side also have a young jewel in their crown. Pedro González known as Pedri is a 16 year old striker who has just signed a five year contract with Las Palmas which has a 30 million Euro buyout clause. He has featured in all pre season games.

A bright future ahead for 16 year old Las Palmas star Pedri.

The Arrecife Town Hall has organised this match and incredibly the entrance is free. The club is asking all attending to please support the club by joining in and purchase some raffle tickets.

There will be at least 15 prizes including a signed Las Palmas shirt, 4 Lanzarote signed shirts, Two tickets for rooftops cinema in Puerto Del Carmen and two tickets for the Spa at the Hotel Beatriz in Costa Teguise among other prizes.

Tickets will be priced at 2 Euros per ticket or a line of 5 tickets for just 5 Euros.

Those of you thinking of having a pre or after drink at the Sports Bar up the road from the ground unfortunately it is closed for holidays and reopens on the first league match on the 25th August.

The club will have the bar open in the stadium from 6pm and as normal will serve hot rolls (bocadillos), soft drinks and beer.

Photos of the beach training session will be posted soon.
