LANZAROTE     1    CF ESTRELLA    0,       15th January 2017.

Though the game ended with a 1-0 victory for Adolfo Pérez’s men, the result doesn’t reflect the chances the Rojillos had to put the game to bed long before the 90 minutes were up.

Lanzarote began the match against a well organized Estrella side. Rojillos midfielder Ayoze Pérez spurned two very good chances in the early stages, one was a header that went well over the bar and in the 15th minute a cross fell kindly to the Lanzarote midfielder but from eight yards he blasted the ball well over the crossbar.

Whilst Ayoze had wasted those chances he was still one of Lanzarote´s best players of the first half. Just before the half hour he cut inside from the wing beating two players but his low cross was cleared.

The Gran Canarian side didn’t offer too much but in the 38th minute a strike from their captain Eche was swerving though the Lanzarote keeper kept his eye on the ball and fisted away the danger.

All in all it was a disappointing first half as the teams went into the break with the game scoreless.

Just before the hour mark Lanzarote introduced two strikers, Javi Melian and debutant Natanael which immediately sparked the Rojillos into action.

Midway through the second half the visitors were reduced to 10 men when defender Leandro picked up his second yellow card for a foul on Javi Melian.

Lanzarote now applied a lot more pressure. Krispy was attacking down the right flank and was causing many problems for the Gran Canarian side.

In the 76th minute a long throw from Raúl was nodded on at the near post by Rosmen and new boy Nata chested the ball down and from five yards thumped the ball home to send his new side into a 1-0 lead.

A great way to begin your career with the Rojillos for striker Natanael is by scoring the winning goal on your debut.

The Rojillos looked to extend their lead and thought they had done late on when Nata poked the ball home from close range but he was adjudged offside by the linesman.

Lanzarote move up to seventh spot in the league but still trail the playoff positions by seven points. Next week the Rojillos are away in La Palma against sixth placed side SD Tenisca.
