It has been five long months since the Rojillos tasted victory on the road but thanks to an assist by British lad Louis Kennedy and a finish from Yaco late on, that terrible statistic has come to an end.

After last week’s disappointing home defeat Rojillos manager Adolfo Pérez decided to introduce two junior players into the starting line up, defender Acaymo and striker Echedey Gómez.

The Tenerife side one place above Lanzarote prior to the match began the better of the two sides. The Rojillos defence was strong but upfront only looked dangerous on set pieces. The visitors were content with the game scoreless going into the half time break.

The home side kept up the same tempo in the second period but as Lanzarote grew in confidence as they began to claw their way into the game.

With five minutes left on the clock midfielder Marcos Cabrera lifted the ball over the top of the defence and Louis Kennedy raced onto it beating the keeper to the ball and fed striker Yaco who had an easy tap in. The Lanzarote striker is now joint top scorer with his brother Rosmen, both with seven goals.

The Tenerife side bombarded Lanzarote in the closing minutes but with a good organised defence and the help of the woodwork kept the home side at bay.

The win lifts Lanzarote above Las Zocas into 12th spot and comfortably away from any relegation worries.

Next week Lanzarote finally return to their home pitch at Ciudad Deportiva in Arrecife. A new astro surface has been completed as well as new seating in the stand. Their opponents will be third placed side CD Marino. The Tenerife outfit are the leagues form side with 7 wins, 2 draws and no defeats in their last 9 matches.
