LANZAROTE   4   C.F. UNIÓN VIERA   0,   11th November 2018,

Four second half goals including a hat trick from the incredible 38 year old Lanzarote captain Rosmen gives the Rojillos a much needed win and moves them up to 10th spot and six points from the playoffs.

He is the man. Veteran striker Rosmen, the leagues leading goalscorer.

The score line may suggest that this was an easy win but during the first half this was most definitely not the case with the Gran Canarian side giving as good as they got.

In the 10th minute Lanzarote´s best player in the opening period Nico González latched onto a through ball and broke clear down the middle.

The defender clearly pulled at his shirt on two occasions, the midfielder could have gone down which should have resulted in a red card for the defender but  chose to stay on his feet and fire in a weakened shot which was saved well by the feet of the keeper. Unfortunately the official took no action and allowed play to continue.

Nico González doing the right thing staying on his feet.

Five minutes later and the visitors broke with pace, winger Alvaro from the left whipped in a vicious powerful cross to the far post but his striker could only head into the side netting.

Both sides went in search of the opening goal but it was Lanzarote who had the better chances. In the 24th minute the impressive Alex Cruz saw his close range strike following a corner cleared off the goal line then two minutes later defender Dani García let rip a thunderous swerving effort from 25 yards which the goalkeeper did well to fist away.

Possession was equal and the Gran Canarian side posed a threat every time they broke but the half ended entertaining yet goalless.

The opening stages of the second half were also equal but it didn’t take long for the Rojillos to stretch their opponents.

Midfielder Alberto fired a yard over from 20 yards then the hard working and contender for man of the match Alex Yunes robbed his defender in his own half and went on a tantalizing run down the left wing. Just when he thought that he found his strike partner Rosmen in the centre a defender slid in and cleared the danger.

No goals but yet a superb performance from striker Alex Yunes.

In the 62nd minute Rosmen capitalized from a mistake from a defender and with the keeper closing down the veteran striker he managed to scoop the ball over him and with perfect precision found the right hand corner to give his side a deserved 1-0 lead.

The Rojillos then gritted their teeth and there was to be no way back for the ninth placed side.

The lively substitute Jordi made it 2-0 in the 77th minute when his strike across the keeper from ten yards found the left hand corner.

In the 83rd minute the Unión Viera defence allowed Rosmen a free header from a corner and with Lanzarote´s hugely experienced tall centre forward there was only going to be one answer to that as he made it 3-0.

Five minutes later Rosmen completed his hat trick with another header to end the match 4-0 and also send him to the top of the goal scoring charts with eight goals.
