LANZAROTE   2   UD TELDE   2, 25th January 2015

The Rojillos maintain their unbeaten home record with Rosmen giving his side the lead in the opening minutes and his brother Yaco rescuing a point late on.

Lanzarote couldn’t have got off to a better start, in the 3rd minute Echedey crossed from the left wing and as Rosmen fought for the ball the goalkeeper arrived a little late and made contact with the Lanzarote Captain and awarded a spot kick.

Rosmen stepped up and calmly bagged his 18th goal of the season whilst sending his side into an early 1-0 lead. A few minutes later Echedey came close to extending his sides lead but his shot from the edge of the area clipped the wrong side of the post and away for a goal kick.

That seemed to be the wakeup call for the Gran Canarian side because after that near miss they were by far the best side in the first half.

Lanzarote were struggling to put passes together whilst the mid table side were gaining in confidence and in the 24th minute only a great reflex finger tip save from the Lanzarote keeper prevented striker Yeray from levelling the scores with his superb headed effort.

For the remainder of the first half the Rojillos were on the back foot as Telde created the better chances.

The local fans were hoping that manager Adolfo Pérez had given his players the Fergie hairdryer half time  chat and that their team would put in a much better second half performance.

If he had his players did not take note because in the second minute a corner for the visitors was met with a free header by defender Angelo and from close range he made no mistake as he headed his side level to make the score 1-1.

Once again Telde began to look comfortable on the ball as Lanzarote were finding it difficult to move up a gear.

In the 76th minute the ever alert Telde striker Yeray picked up the ball on the left hand side and let rip from 25 yards completely taking the Lanzarote keeper by surprise as he was beaten at his near post and the visitors held a 1-2 lead.

The visitors joy lasted just a few minutes as Toñito who was probably Lanzarote´s best player delivered a quick out swinging cross and sub Yaco hit it on the volley passing the ball into the far left hand corner of the net beating the outstretched Telde keeper and levelling the score at 2-2.

The Rojillos were now on fire and if any team was going to win the match from now till the finish it was going to be Lanzarote.

Both Brad and Rosmen hit the bar with headers in the closing moments but a winner then would have been a little unfair on the Gran Canarian side as they well worthy of their point and become just the third side to take a point against Lanzarote at home this season.

Lanzarote remain in second spot and are four points behind league leaders CD Marino. Next week the Rojillos travel to Gran Canaria to face 9th placed side Unión Viera.
