To say that Lanzarote do not travel well would be a major understatement. In their last ten away matches the Rojillos have just picked up a single point and two minutes into this game they did not look as though they were going to improve on that horrible statistic.

In only the second minute a good cross from winger Romario set up striker Aridani who stroked home the ball to give the Gran Canarian side a 1-0 lead.

The Rojillos found it hard to settle as the hosts dominated and had several chances to extend their lead.

It wasn’t until the half hour mark until Lanzarote had a strike of anger at the goal. A free kick from defender Taja flew off the centre back and away for a corner.

In the closing stages of the first half a strike from Romario almost gave Estrella a second goal cushion but fortunately for Lanzarote his effort hit the post.

Things got no better in the second half and nine minutes in and the Rojillos found themselves 2-0 down. Good work from sub Matías and striker Aridani produced a good save from the Lanzarote keeper but the rebound fell to Matías who made no mistake in doubling his sides lead.

The Rojillos had no choice but to push forward. Rosmen and Taja´s efforts were both saved well by the Gran Canarian keeper but two minutes from time a superb strike on the edge of the area by midfielder Echedey Mayor for the hosts guaranteed three goals and three points to the home side.

Next week is the big local derby between Lanzarote and U.S Yaiza. Following promotion last season Yaiza have done fantastically well and sit one point and one place higher in the league table than Lanzarote.

Lanzarote may be at home but as yet they don’t know where that will be. Hopefully it will be back at the home ground in Arrecife but more likely it will be in Tias. As soon as I know it will be posted on Facebook, Lanzarote football club then on this website.
