CD TENERIFE B 1 LANZAROTE 1, 30th September 2018,
The Rojillos fight back in the second half to earn a welcome point against one of the league’s top sides following two straight defeats.
Lanzarote had the better start to the match but all that good work came to nothing when a mix up in the Lanzarote defence led to Pedro Viera passing the ball back to his keeper Salva. The young keeper had a poor first touch and the ball crept into the goal giving the Chicharreos (Tenerifians) a 1-0 advantage.
The goal settled the home side though I am sure they would have been extremely happy for their half time lead as they hadn’t had a shot on goal.
Rosmen and Miguel Gómez both threatened the Tenerife B side and in the 36th minute the visitors thought that they had levelled but the official annulled the goal for a free kick earlier in the move.
The Rojillo defence remained strong as Lanzarote finished the half the better side but still trailed by the odd goal.
After only a couple minutes into the second half striker Alex Yunes (photo) latched onto a pass and levelled for the Rojillos which also gave his side the initiative.
Both teams tried to go on and win the match until the final whistle but honours finished even. A draw keeps Tenerife B in 6th spot whilst Lanzarote slip one place to 10th but are only two points from a playoff position and a further two points from surprise new league leaders Atlético Unión de Guímar.
Next Sunday 7th October at 12 noon Lanzarote are at home versus 4th placed Tenerife side CD Santa Úrsula.
