The Rojillos missed out on the opportunity to secure their playoff position with this draw however they only require a single point in their final two league games to guarantee themselves the opportunity to fight for the right to play in Segunda B (third tier).

A few Lanzarote fans hoping to see a win so Lanzarote would qualify for the playoffs with two games to spare.

The Tenerife side are normally fighting for a playoff position at this time of the season but this campaign has not been as successful as they are sitting in 13th spot with little but pride to play for.

There was little to choose between the two sides in a lackluster first half. The home side had a couple of chances early on but it was the Rojillos captain Ayoze Pérez who should have put his side in front five minutes before the break but unusually Mr Reliable got it wrong.

Lanzarote Captain Ayoze Pérez coming close on a couple of occasions.

The hosts began the second period the much better of the two sides and Lanzarote born player Kevin Castro came close to breaking the deadlock but failed though his side didn’t have to wait long.

In the 62nd minute striker Ahmed controlled the ball inside the area and on the turn fired past the Rojillos keeper Sasha to give the Tenerife side a 1-0 lead.

Lanzarote were not about to give up their 12 match unbeaten run without a fight and in the 74th minute striker Rosmen finished off a cross from the right to level the score at 1-1.

Rosmen 37 years young and still going strong.

The Lanzarote veteran only returned to the club in January after announcing his retirement at the end of last season and since his return he has been in incredible form and has netted on ten occasions.

He maybe 37 years of age but I am sure this Lanzarote legend could have one more season in him yet. Not only does he bring quality to the side but his attitude which rubs off on all his teammates is second to none.

Lanzarote then gained control of the match and looked the more likely to find the winner. Late on Ayoze Pérez came ever so close when his free kick from the edge of the 18 yard box came crashing back off the woodwork but his side had to settle with the draw.

This point has edged Lanzarote on the brink of the playoffs and this week at home they will have another chance to complete their mission when they face Tenerife side UD Las Zocas on Sunday 6th May at 12 noon. The club will also be awarding the trophy for player of the season prior to the match.

Fellow Lanzarote side Yaiza lost away to CD Santa Úrsula 3-1 and are in 10th spot whilst Haría lost at home to UD Ibarra 0-2 and are rooted at the bottom of the table.
